Why Would you need an HSP Cold Air Intake for the 2001-2004 Trucks?
The HSP Cold Air Intake for the LB7 is something that we worked on for quite some time. The factory intake on the LB7 is not the best that GM has ever put out. We wanted and you needed something that was going to install easily, look great but above all else perform the way many of you have come to expect from HSP Diesel.
What Does the HSP Cold Air Intake for the 2001-2004 Trucks do Differently?
When designing the HSP Cold Air Intake for the LB7 we started with an intake tube that was the best flowing and as big as we could get. This meant a 4 ½” mandrel-bent tubing for the intake tube, this gave us a flow that had the least amount of turbulence, a free-flowing path, and helped keep temperatures in check. After we had our flow down we wanted to create a heat shield box that fell into our requirements. Our heat shield box by design does not pull in air from the fresh air headlight bezel and fender port. The heat shield box in the HSP Cold Air Intake for the LB7 while not only looking good is hand fitted to make sure that this part will fit perfectly the first time. All of these pieces combined with our awesome filter that flows as much as possible. All of this will allow you to have lower temps and more air all while being cleaner. With cleaner air, you have fewer chances of debris going through the turbo and this increases the life of your turbocharger.
