Tell us about the Cold Air Intake that is in the Max Air Flow Bundle
The Cold Air Intake that is inside the Max Air Flow Bundle is exactly what you are used to seeing from HSP Diesel. Let us start with the major changes in our intake, we start with a 4 ½” mandrel-bent tubing. What this does for is us is the intake is now able to flow a lot more and is able to take in all the extra air. What some people do is they put a better flowing filter on their stock intakes which is great but the intake tube can’t flow as much as the filter can so you then end up with a restriction. So HSP Diesel increased the size of our intake tube and then paired that with our high-flowing 7 layer filter. We then created a heatshield that is made to not only look better but keeps out the high temps that we see inside the engine bay. Our heatshield also helps add a small added layer of protection to the filter. Our cold air intakes have proven on the dyno to increase upwards of 20 additional horsepower and 58 pounds of torque on average. It is worth noting that by design, the heat shield box will now draw in cold, fresh air from the headlight bezel and fender port.
Tell us about the Cold Side Tube that is in the Max Air Flow Bundle
The cold side pipe that is in our Max Air Flow Bundle is much different than the factory part. To start we used a 3-inch pipe that is then mandrel bent. The reason we did this is that we wanted not only the maximum amount of space that we can fill with air. But we also wanted to give that air the smoothest and quickest route that it could follow on its way through the charge air system. This gives us the most efficient design and allows us to demand maximum performance.
Tell us about the Hot Side Tube that is in the Max Air Flow Bundle
The Hot side pipe that is in the Max Air Flow Bundle is one of the most important parts inside the kit. Now we say that because the factory hotside pipe is such a bad design we had to make serious changes to it. Just like the cold side tube inside the Max Air Flow Bundle, we used a 3” diameter mandrel-bent tube. This gave us sweeping style bends to create a free-flowing pipe that allows for maximum flow. We also took the prone-to-fail factory lower intercooler boot and made some changes. The connection is now a straight style connect to the intercooler, this removes the failure point and gives more reliability.
Tell us about the Inlet horn that is in the Max Air Flow Bundle
The factory inlet horn is a massive choking point for the air system. Now the reason we say is that is the factory inlet horn is undersized and not bent smoothly in our opinion. This is why we took the inlet horn and bumped it up to a massive 3.5” replacement piece. What this did is it made that entire system now be able to bring in much more fresh air, and when this is combined with the rest of the Max Air Flow Bundle you will quickly see the difference compared to the factory parts.
