Why would you need an HSP Cold Air Intake for the LLY Duramax?
The stock intake on the LLY Duramax is a design that needs improvement. Now the biggest thing is the LLY can use so much air from the factory and the stock intake just doesn’t provide what it needs to. So HSP Diesel went to work and started redesigning and creating the HSP Cold Air Intake for the LLY Duramax. HSP Diesel wanted to create a new intake that was not only going to perform the way we wanted it to but also looks better.
What does the HSP Cold Air Intake for the LLY Duramax do Differently?
To get things started the HSP Cold Air Intake for the LLY Duramax is made from 4 ½” mandrel-bent tubing. What this did was create a much larger space for air to travel through the intake tube and into the turbocharger. We also use sweeping style bends this creates a smooth path for the air to travel through and with a smoother path we have less turbulence. All of this is done with the goal of creating more power by allowing the turbo to take in more air. This is finished up with one of the best air filters on the market and an all-metal headshield box. On the dyno, we see an average of 20 additional horsepower and 58 pounds of torque. This is all while having an intake that looks better than the factory one. By design, the heat shield box will now draw in cold, fresh air from the headlight bezel and fender port.
